O escrit\u00f3rio da promotoria do Departamento de Justi\u00e7a em Manhattan notificou a Securities and Exchange Commission (a comiss\u00e3o de valores mobili\u00e1rios dos EUA) de que deseja ver informa\u00e7\u00f5es que a ag\u00eancia reuniu em sua investiga\u00e7\u00e3o da Merrill Lynch, segundo o Wall Street Journal.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">A SEC est\u00e1 examinando, entre outras coisas, se essas empresas teriam contabilizado pre\u00e7os superiores para os t\u00edtulos garantidos por hipotecas que detinham, apesar de saberem que seu valor tinha diminu\u00eddo, segundo fontes citadas pelo jornal. A investida da promotoria acontece enquanto a SEC transforma o inqu\u00e9rito sobre a Merrill em uma investiga\u00e7\u00e3o formal, o que requer a aprova\u00e7\u00e3o da comiss\u00e3o e d\u00e1 a ag\u00eancia poderes para exigir informa\u00e7\u00f5es de empresas e indiv\u00edduos.<\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:Arial;\"><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:arial;\"><strong>Demiss\u00f5es<\/strong><\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-family:arial;\">Na \u00faltima sexta-feira, o Bear Stearns, informou que cortou 10% de sua equipe (1.400 funcion\u00e1rios) para reduzir custos.
