Em <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/opinion\/displaystory.cfm?story_id=12637043&amp;fsrc=rss\"><em>All you need is cash<\/em><\/a><em> (The Economist, 20\/11\/2008) o texto faz um retrospecto da hist\u00f3ria recente das empresas, onde ter caixa era sinal de inefici\u00eancia. Hoje o foco \u00e9 a \u201cqueima de caixa\u201d, ou seja, o quanto as empresas est\u00e3o consumido do seu caixa e a dura\u00e7\u00e3o que este caixa ter\u00e1 nos pr\u00f3ximos meses (o \u00edndice \u201cqueima de caixa\u201d e sua explica\u00e7\u00e3o pode ser encontrado no livro de Administra\u00e7\u00e3o do Capital de Giro, de Assaf Neto e Tib\u00farcio Silva, pela Atlas). <\/em><\/div>\n<div align=\"right\"><em><\/em> <\/div>\n<div align=\"right\"><em>Em termos macro-econ\u00f4micos, como as empresas est\u00e3o cortando o gasto discricion\u00e1rio, o resultado ser\u00e1 o que Keynes denominava de \u201cparadox of thrift\u201d: cada empresa corta seu gasto e isto influencia no processo de recess\u00e3o da economia. O \u00f3timo individual n\u00e3o corresponde ao \u00f3timo coletivo.<\/em><\/div>\n<div align=\"right\"><em><\/em> <\/div>\n<div align=\"right\"><em>Al\u00e9m disto, o momento \u00e9 \u00f3timo para as empresas predadoras, que possuem recursos, como \u00e9 o caso da Microsoft, que atualmente tem 21 bilh\u00f5es, e as empresas farmac\u00eauticas (Eli Lilly, Roche, Merck e Bristol-Myers Squibb), que podem adquirir as empresas de biotecnologia. \u00c9 interessante notar que um texto da CFO (<\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cfo.com\/printable\/article.cfm\/12665123\"><em>GM Controller to Peers: Watch Your Assets<\/em><\/a><em>, David McCann, CFO.com, 20\/11\/2008) mostra a situa\u00e7\u00e3o da empresa General Motors. E comenta que a empresa est\u00e1 sendo gerenciada, nos dias atuais, pelo caixa.
