\tLondres – Nos últimos meses, a crise financeira internacional e a epidemia de protestos sociais mundo afora trouxeram para o topo dos debates um tema que vem produzindo controvérsias estridentes nos meios políticos e econômicos: estariam os ricos pagando menos impostos do que deveriam?<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\tEm julho, uma organização independente chamada Tax Justice Network (Rede de Justiça Tributária, numa tradução livre) publicou um estudo que fez barulho. Segundo o estudo, multimilionários de todas as partes mantêm entre 21 trilhões e 32 trilhões de dólares em paraísos fiscais.<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\t <\/div>\n
\tSe o dinheiro fosse declarado, diz a organização, o imposto arrecadado giraria em torno de 300 bilhões de dólares. “Consideramos nossos números conservadores”, afirmou o britânico James Henry, egresso da consultoria McKinsey e autor do estudo. “Só levamos em conta as operações financeiras. Iates e outros bens foram deixados de lado.”<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
