\tUma substância ainda não identificada presente no café é a responsável por tornar a bebida um importante aliado na prevenção do Alzheimer. Uma pesquisa que será publicada no periódico Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease <\/em>demonstrou que a interação dessa substância com a cafeína aumentou os níveis de um fator do sangue chamado GCSF, responsável por evitar o progresso da doença, em camundongos.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\t <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\tEstudos observacionais em humanos já haviam relatado que a ingestão diária de café por adultos e idosos diminui os riscos da demência. Pesquisas prévias da equipe da Universidade da Flórida do Sul, nos Estados Unidos, indicavam ainda que a cafeína é o provável ingrediente do café responsável pela proteção. Isso porque a substância reduz a produção no cérebro de uma proteína anormal chamada beta-amiloide, que, acredita-se, é responsável por causar o Alzheimer.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\t <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\t“O café com cafeína proporciona um aumento natural dos níveis de GCSF no sangue. Não sabemos ainda como isso acontece, mas há uma interação sinérgica entre a cafeína e essa substância desconhecida da bebida”, diz Chuanhai Cao, coordenador do estudo. Como a pesquisa foi feita com café coado, os pesquisadores não sabem, no entanto, se o café instantâneo teria a mesma resposta.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\t <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\tEm quantidades moderadas, o café é considerado uma bebida segura. Segundo os pesquisadores, a ingestão de quatro a cinco xícaras por dia foi suficiente para neutralizar a patologia e a perda de memória nos camundongos com Alzheimer. Para ser eficiente contra a doença, o consumo da bebida pode ter início na idade adulta, entre os 30 anos e 50 anos – mas o consumo precoce aumenta os níveis de proteção.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
